This made me thing of the state of our environment, climate change, global warming, etc.

The concern being about the planet and how it's going to survive.

The planet, earth, will be fine. Always has been, always will; until it's not. That, however, won't be incremental. That will be catastrophic. Nothing we do will change that. Some day our star, the sun, will burn out.

We, people, on the other hand will not be fine. Someday the conditions that support our life on the planet will cease and we'll go the way of the dinosaurs.

None of this will be in a hurry.

We need to learn how to adapt, to change our way of life to put off eventual forced change put upon us.

Politics, economics, and to a lesser extent science (or lack of it) get in our way.

The solution: education, cooperation, and leadership.
