I discovered a trigger for a state of happiness.
The whole point of my presence and engagement on Medium is to learn, to uncover new insights and perspectives — mostly about myself. I love when I read something and it triggers a new thought. The author may not have said it, but what they did say causes me to think differently and deeper to organically reveal a new idea that I would not otherwise have discovered if I had not read the article. When such an occurrence happens it does so in a flash, an immediate thought and entire concept rushes to the forefront.
For satisfaction, I stumbled upon such an occurence while reading The Atlantic’s “How Wanting Less Leads to Satisfaction”:
“In fact, our natural state is dissatisfaction, punctuated by brief moments of satisfaction. -Arthur C. Brooks”
My thought immediately went to, “Can I flip that? Can I make my natural state satisfaction, being content, being happy, or at least the have the absence of dissatisfaction?
