Spot on!
I saw Oppenheimer this past weekend, in 70mm IMAX. I was hopeful the dialog would be more discernible. I still had trouble following the dialog. Some of this was due to special effects and music in the background. But most of it was just the dialog itself being hard to follow. It was like I would want to lean in and pay more attention to what was being said.
Other factor influencing my ability to follow the dialog is the speed at which its being delivered, and the technical nature of the content, i.e. Oppenheimer being scientific. Sometime the actors speak so fast that by the time I can lock in to what is being said I’ve already missed the capacity to understand it.
Funny, watching the movie in the theater my first impression was I wished I could turn on closed caption.
Movie was still great, different than what I expected. My son expressed it well, the movie was a cinematic experience!
