In my time in the Corporate world I found much of the focus was about internal messaging, i.e. politics in communcating issues up the ladder seeking "approval" for a course of action. Your "never, ever say the truth" resonated with me. Taken further that was often "facts don't matter" and "perception is reality."

My pet peeve on meetings wasn't so much the meeting itself, but the pre-meeting and the post-meeting about the meeting.
