I was in a men's small group. We met at one of our members house (he was a pastor, but not THE pastor of our church). All of us were in his living room ready to get started but he was busy elsewhere in the house so we were late getting started. After a short while he came out--with a big red welt on the side of his face. Turns out he got stung by one of his bees (he kept a small be hive in his yard for honey). He then made some casual mention about God (maybe Satan) playing a role in the sting. What? I asked, "are you serious?. You mean to tell me you think it was by God's design that you got stung?" Absolutely he said.

We then had a rather deep theological discussion on the topic of randomness vs design. I was on the side of randomness. The others were of the belief that everything is on purpose, by God.

Sometimes a bee sting is just a bee sting.

Interesting too, I felt strongly that the others were affectively calling me less Christian because I didn't believe their way.

Still bothers me.
