Guilt I suppose, because I (we) hear we are not supposed to question Christian authority.

When you’re in a Small Group and you’re the one who says, “wait a minute, thats not what the Bible says”, or “how come our pastor …..”, one can quickly be branded a malcontent. I remember one small group interaction where we had a new couple join our established group. We were doing a deep dive on the pastor’s weekly sermon. I asked a lot of questions, and challenged some of the statements said. The spouse of the new couple said to me something like, “it must be difficult to go through life so disagreeable.” I though we were having a discussion. What are we, sheep? (I didn’t say that, I thought it). I let them have their moment.
