Coincidence or God?

Its never too late.

At the start of 2020, completely independent of one another I came across these two different “voices.”

  1. The Netflix show Messiah.
  2. “The Grand Inquisitor” poem.

I’m not by any measure equating the two in their movie-making or literary stature. One is brand new, made for the day, and though thought-provoking still no major accomplishment. The other is a classic piece of prose by a literary giant in one of his widely recognized masterpieces. Its the subject matter that interests me.

I am always one to point out or question when is God going to talk to me? What does it mean when people say, “God spoke to me”. I think of this literally. I’d love God to speak to me, to tell me what to do, what job to take, what relationship to cultivate, tell me how an illness will turn out. I can say I have never heard that voice, certainly not literally or even actionably symbolic. Some friends have pointed out to me, “sure you have, remember when…” but it just does not sink in for me. I am stubborn that way.

I have resolved myself to read more this year and spend less time surfing google.news for the latest content or update to world events. It had become not just a habit but a crutch, almost like a nervous twitch — bored, check the news! Undecided, check the news…
